Applying to a college or university is not a hard thing. I came to the United States of America in 2012, and I applied to North Dakota State University as an international student. The first time, I did not apply by myself, because when I came here, I couldn’t even speak or write in English. I paid for the application process in Mongolia, which is where I am from. It cost me around five thousand dollars. Then I learned English and I helped a friend apply to North Dakota State University as an international student. This is why I know there are three main steps for applying to a university or college: contact the college or university, prepare your documents, and get a visa and prepare for travel.

First, contact the college or university. I think you need to have a good email address. Include your first and last name (such as Unubold.tsolmon@yahoo.com or something). That makes it more helpful for them. First, you need to contact the college's or university’s international student advisor. They are there to help you guys, and they will tell you everything. You need to write a good, clear email to them. Include your opinion, and tell them you want to apply to their university or college. That is the first step to college or university. You are getting one step closer to getting accepted at the school.

Second, prepare your documents. Once you send the email they will respond with an application form. You will fill out the application, it is not hard, and it’s just your information. Now you need to prepare your own documents. First, get all the documents you need: high school transcript, bank statement, passport copy, and medical card. Second, you need to translate them into English. For the translation, you need to translate them using a certified translator. Third thing is to find a good notary public. You need to get your translated documents notarized by a notary public. Now you need to send your application and translated and notarized documents to the college or university by mail.

Third, get a visa and prepare for travel. I think this part is little bit hard, but really exciting. When your application is done, the college or university they will send you an I-20, which is your most important document. You have to get an appointment at your embassy to get a visa. You need to bring all the documents you need such as the I-20, bank statement and medical ID card. Also, you should prepare for the interview, which is the most important thing. The way to talk and way you appear can changes your future. When you get your visa, which is the most phenomenal part, prepare for travel.
