Last Year I visited my best friend in Turkey. I was there just for a week but I really loved every day I spent there. So, I specifically planned my visit for his birthday, and I had to find a very good gift for him since I hadn’t seen him for years.

The middle of October, 2014, I am in the US and I just bought tickets to Turkey to visit my best friend. One of the tasks is done, and the rest, the easiest one, as I thought that time, getting a gift for his birthday is left. So, just 3 days left for my flight to Turkey, and I think it is the right time to go to some gift store and find that gift. I wasn’t thinking about money, I just wanted to buy the best and the most useful gift, something he had never had before, I didn’t even know what exactly to buy, but I was sure the huge choice in any gift store would help me with that.

So, I arrived at the store, and I didn’t even realize I would be drowned in the ocean of interesting stuff. For more than an hour I was just looking, and if you had asked me, whether I found something to buy, I would say NO, because exactly at that moment I understood how difficult it is to find a proper gift for a friend. I was just looking and that day I decided that I will go to another place tomorrow and will also check that place out. The next day wasn’t much different from the previous one. I decided to go home and to look for something on the internet. My head was almost blowing up because of all these thoughts and choices. I still didn’t know what to do.

It was time to fly to Istanbul. I just got to the airport and my last hope was the duty free shop. With no doubts, I grabbed one big and beautiful bottle of Jack Daniels, which I was sure that he loves, and flew straight to Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. All those 7 days, especially evenings, we were drinking that bottle, chatting, talking about life, the future and some nostalgic moments from the past.

He was happy that I came to visit him, and I was glad that he liked the present, and that I saw him after these long years. All these days spent with my friend were unforgettable, Istanbul is a really very beautiful city. So now it is his turn to visit me on my birthday.
