The things I love to do in my spare time are watch the news and read newspaper headlines. I love to do these things because it keeps me informed and aware of what is happening, not only in America but also in other parts of the world. I always want to hear and see current events that are worth watching. Oftentimes I get ideas or opinions based on what I’ve heard and seen. This hobby has enriched my knowledge about politics and political events.

It is interesting to note that my knowledge of political events made me adhere to the principle and conviction that a person can only be black or white. Gray choices are only for indecisive people. It doesn’t matter whether you choose right or left, just as long as you have a stand. This conviction in turn determines what kind of person you are and who you want to be in the future.

Here in America, people from both the Democratic and Republican sides are at it again claiming their party is better than the other. This time, they are dwelling not only on the issues at hand but debates have become personal arguments and politicians sometimes resort to name-calling. I consider these attacks to be “below the belt” (in boxing it is a foul to punch an opponent below the belt line).

Still, in the House of Representatives, Speaker Boehner conveyed his resignation as Speaker of the House as soon as a replacement is chosen. Two Republican Congressmen nominated as Speaker both backed out for personal reasons while a third is undecided. All eyes are on the majority party as they scramble for the right man to lead them to continuance. I wish the party good luck on their choice of a Speaker, as the chosen one will inherit all there is in the chamber, good and bad.
