I love watching dramas. There are many good ones to choose from. When I watch dramas I usually expect a few things.

Firstly, there should be a little twist on the story and it should not be obvious. That really makes me enjoy the show. Recently a bunch of Hollywood movies and TV dramas are produced with such a twist. When scenes are too obvious, they are not fun to watch. Sometimes directors just focus on cruelty which is overwhelming and ruins the story just to shock the audience. Revolution in my opinion, is an example of that.

Secondly, the show should not become psychological. Some American dramas have a good start, attracting viewers with stories people love, but later they become more dream-like. For example, there is a famous sci-fi TV drama called Battle Star Galatica. It began with a humans vs android fight. They fight on battle ships and small crafts, similar to Star Wars. The story moves fast and captivates viewers for one season. But in following seasons, it starts to focus on the main character. This isn’t as exciting.

Thirdly, I expect a solid main story. Some TV dramas make the last episode a cliff-hanger and make people wait another season for an outcome. Good dramas don’t wait until the last episode to be interesting. Here are some of my recommendations:

24

Homeland

Breaking bad

Better Call Saul

Of course there should be some routines which give you satisfaction such as happy endings, goodies defeat baddies etc. These are some joys I get from dramas and think this is my one of hobbies.
